Turning, Amazon & Cerys Matthews
If you have arrived here thanks to Cerys Matthews' generous mentions of my book Turning on her (very splendid) BBC 6 radio show, and her lovely reading of one of the poems from it the other week, welcome (and many thanks again Cerys)!
If you're looking to buy copies of Turning, I'm afraid the book is not currently available on Amazon - my publisher has problems with the Amazon business model, as do many small publishers, with good reason.
Unfortunately, this makes it rather trickier than normal to get hold of my book in these internet-driven times, which is frustrating for all concerned, especially as a cursory look at Amazon would make you infer that the book is out of print. Happily, whatever Amazon may imply, Turning is still available, either by ordering it through a good bookshop, or direct from me.
I have copies of the book coming from the publisher in the next few days, so if you're interested please feel free to post a message below this blog entry with your email address (it won't appear in public unless you've already had a comment accepted by me) and I'll email you and arrange to send you the book (I'll even sign 'em if you'd like). It's £8.99 plus £1.50 p&p.
If you'd prefer a quick fix, my most recent book, A Thousand Laurie Lees, a Cider with Rosie-tinted account of growing up in the Slad Valley 60 and more years after Laurie Lee, is available on Amazon and is littered with poems of mine (as well as beautiful illustrations by Jo Sanders and photographs by Dan Brown). But if you would prefer a copy of Turning, do support your favourite local bookshop or library, or get in touch with me here.Cheers, Adam
PS If you're in Exeter, I will have copies of Turning for sale at a reading I'm doing with Gillian Clarke at Exeter Poetry Festival on National Poetry Day, October 2nd. If you're in London, I'm taking part in a just-post National Poetry Day gig at the 100 Club on Oxford Street and will have copies there too! If you happen to be passing through Stroud, try the splendid bookshop on the High Street.
