Ltd edition ORFC poster poems

At the beginning of January, I was invited to be the poet in residence at the Oxford Real Farming Conference, and commissioned to write two poems to be read at the closing plenary of the conference in Oxford Town Hall to the assembled delegates, the majority of whom work on smaller, family farms as far from the reach of factory farming as they can get.

The aim of the residency was to concentrate the thoughts of the farmers at the conference into poetry and to write specifically about the soil. I spent a fascinating two days listening to them discussing the need to put the soil back central, finally writing two poems about the soil and the farmers’ relationship with it and the land as a whole.

These poems have been released as limited edition, signed, letterpress posters measuring 297mm by 500mm. 150 copies of each have been set in 20pt Gill Sans on beautiful 400gsm card, and are lovely objects for framing. The posters (which come as either a pack of two for £25 or individually at £15, plus postage) are available now. All proceeds from the posters will go towards my ongoing lyrical celebration of pasture farming as the Pasture-fed Livestock Association’s poet in residence, as part of which I am working on writing a book (to be launched at ORFC 2018).
